Influences
The format owes something to The Big Book of Lists (1977), to Robert Macfarlane's Landmarks, to Craig Mod's Pop-Up Essays, and to every end-of-year list that tried too hard and taught us what not to do. Also to the British tradition of the quiet pub guide — the one that doesn't tell you everything.
